Skip Hobbs at the 2024 AAPG ICE International Conference in Muscat, Oman

Ammonite Managing Partner Skip Hobbs traveled to Muscat, Oman for the 30^th September-2^nd October International Conference & Exhibition of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. October 3^rd and 4^th, Hobbs participated on a geological field trip to the interior of Oman to Wadi Mu’aydin and Al Jabal Al Akhdar to examine the Neoproterozoic through Cenozoic stratigraphy of the Middle East.

The field trip was a “bucket list” experience for Skip as he has worked in and studied the petroleum geology of the Middle East but had never seen the rocks at outcrop.  There were 22 geologists on the field trip, and they were from all over the world – Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, China, India, South Africa, Europe, South America, and just a couple from the United States. Hobbs said that conversations during meals about geology and current events were memorable because of the diverse “world view”.
